How Forward Metric works

This comes from real work with real businesses.

Forward Metric is a one-person consultancy. That means when you work with us, you work with me — not an account manager, not a junior analyst. Directly, every time.

Tom Berg

Founder, Forward Metric LLC
Omaha, Nebraska

I’ve spent years working closely with hundreds of small businesses — sitting in the room when owners made decisions, watching what actually moved the needle, and seeing the same patterns repeat: smart, capable operators with real businesses that weren’t running as well as they should be. Not because of the market, not because of competition, but because of how the business was structured internally.

The friction was usually the same: intake gaps, manual processes, no visibility into what was working, and an owner spending time on things that a system should handle. The problem wasn’t effort. It was the absence of the right operational foundation.

Forward Metric exists to build that foundation — for businesses that are ready to grow and want to do it without adding chaos.

I work with a limited number of clients at a time. When you hire Forward Metric, you get my full attention and direct access. Not a ticket queue, not a monthly check-in with someone reading from a report.

How we work.

01

Map first

We start with a Clarity Map before recommending anything. If there’s nothing worth fixing, I’ll tell you. The goal is to get you the right answer, not sell you a scope of work.

02

Scoped to your situation

No packages, no one-size-fits-all. Every engagement is scoped to what your business actually needs, in the order that will have the highest impact on revenue first.

03

Measurable or we don’t do it

Every system we install has a baseline and a measurement plan. If we can’t measure whether it’s working, we don’t recommend it. Revenue decisions require data.

Let’s talk.

If you’re running a small business and feel like something in how it operates is holding it back, book a 15-minute call. We’ll have a direct conversation about what you’re working with and whether Forward Metric is the right fit.
